Programme details
This workshop provides an introduction to the common factors and developmental impacts of trauma across the lifespan. It provides a practical overview of how PBS can be delivered to support healing and growth for traumatized children and adults. Children and adults who need intensive care and support are often more vulnerable and therefore more likely to confront traumatic experiences.
For many in care, the impact of past trauma can increase the likelihood of continual re-traumatisation unless carers are equipped to counteract these effects.
Positive Behaviour support is an evidence based framework that helps us look behind presenting behaviours of concern to find out their meaning or purpose for the person. Knowledge about traumatic stress and its potential impacts can better equip practitioners to develop holistic positive behaviour support plans that more effectively meet people's needs and improve their quality of life.
