The Impact of Missed Opportunities

IMPACT, in partnership with Bild, are pleased to host a free webinar to launch ‘Homes not hospitals: the impact of missed opportunities’ film.

The film is a collaboration following a UK-wide Impact Network focused on long-stay hospitals. Bild, CAN (Compass Advocacy Network), In Control Scotland and MacIntyre acted as local Impact Network Coordinators across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with people with lived experience, family-carers, providers, commissioners and researchers coming together to identify practical solutions.

Created for IMPACT by the Restraint Reduction Network, the film shares people’s experiences of themselves, or their loved ones, being in mental health hospitals across the UK.

The webinar will shine a light on an issue that is often hidden from view, consider human rights implications of long-term hospital stays and explore how to prevent people with learning disabilities and autistic people being admitted to hospital. There will be opportunity to ask questions of the panel during the webinar.

Speakers and panel members include:
• Professor Jon Glasby, University of Birmingham
• Professor Robin Miller, University of Birmingham
• Alexis Quinn, Restraint Reduction Network
• Sanchita Hosali, British Institute of Human Rights
• Ben Higgins, Bild/ Restraint Reduction Network
• William, expert by experience and video participant
• Alastair Minty, In Control Scotland and New Routes Home

We are pleased to make this live webinar free for anyone to attend. Bild Members only will have on-demand access to the recording of the webinar and the presentation slides, including recordings of all our past webinars.
