Helping People Thrive
Helping People Thrive
Helping People Thrive is the first of two planned practical guides looking at how to transform the lives of people with a learning disability and/or autism who have been detained in hospital or in Long Term Segregation for too long.
The Department of Health and Social Care has worked with Baroness Sheila Hollins to bring together stories from people who have experienced the system. They show how it is possible to create a new and satisfying life in the community.
These stories show us that we can really change things if we learn from what people get right. And they give us hope that a good future is not only possible but achievable.
Have you, or someone you know, built a new life in the community after being kept in hospital for a long time?
Bild and our partners at Learning Disability England and Valuing People Alliance are collecting more stories.
If you have been out of hospital without re-admission for more than a year, we want to know:
How did you decide where to live?
How did you decide who would support you?
How does your support help you live your life?
What do you want to do next in your life?
