Gold Conference 2023 – Early Bird tickets now available
Preventing avoidable deaths: Stopping people with learning disabilities dying younger
Bild is delighted to announce registration is now open for the Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) conference 2023. Early bird booking is available until 13 September – book your tickets here.
This year’s conference will take place entirely online to enable maximum engagement from all sectors. Recordings will be available after the conference for attendees to view for 90 days.
The conference focuses on preventing avoidable deaths, a topic that has been highlighted in recent years by coverage of tragic, avoidable deaths and the important establishment of the LeDeR programme (Learning from Lives and Deaths – People with a Learning Disability and autistic people). The event seeks to highlight lesser-known issues for people with learning disabilities and provide practical suggestions for positive developments.
The conference programme will include presentations from the team working on the LeDeR programme as well as keynotes on health conditions that are associated with premature or avoidable deaths, such as constipation and aspiration pneumonia. The event will consider improvements to avoiding preventable deaths including initiatives from support providers, consideration of individuals’ wellbeing and an examination of early frailty.
Contributions for the conference come from a wide range of contributors from academia, people with lived experience, NHS England, and practising health and social care practitioners.
The conference will be of particular interest to healthcare professionals working with the general public, learning disability professionals, and those working in social care.
Early bird booking is available until 13 September and the full conference programme will be announced very soon. Full details of the conference are available here.
