Growing Older with Learning Disabilities Conference 2022: Ageing Well with Learning Disabilities
People with learning disabilities and autistic people are known to experience greater health inequalities and die at a younger age than the general population. Bild’s Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) conferences are designed to enable professionals and care and support workers, to support people to live long, happy and healthy lives.
The GOLD Group contains members from the voluntary and community sector, health, social care, service providers, workforce development and academics, with the aim of working collaboratively across the UK, to improve information, provision and support for people with learning disabilities as they grow older.
Vision:
- People with learning disabilities live a good life as they grow older
- People with learning disabilities receive good support and provision as they grow older (including good palliative care)
- People with learning disabilities, family carers and staff have access to information and resources they need and involved in planning their own support and futures (including planning for end of life)
- People with learning disabilities have as good health and wellbeing as rest of the population (reduced health inequalities, loneliness and social isolation, risk of premature death)
