Webinar: Physical Intervention & restraint reduction: A person centred approach during COVID-19
This webinar lasts around 45 minutes and shares the latest good practice regarding physical intervention (PI) and restraint reduction (RR) during COVID 19.
Clare Taylor, Head of Nursing for Specialist Services at Swansea Bay Health Board and winner of the 2019 Bild practice leadership award discusses practical problems and solutions with members of her physical intervention training team working in learning disability and mental health services across Health and Social care. Together they cover a wide range of issues they have dealt with during recent weeks, grouped under four main themes:
- Delivery of PI Training;
- The relevance of COVID testing of patients and staff;
- How to continue to implement PBS and
- Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
They offer an expert perspective and practical advice on risk assessment, interpretation and compliance with guidance and reasonable adjustments. The webinar is supported by documents and related resources that include the latest guidance to date, which can be found further down this page.
We hope this recorded webinar can support some of the local discussions and decisions about the provision of the least restrictive care in these challenging times.
