At the event dinner on 6th May 2010 we will be making some awards and will recognise innovative practice in the field of positive behaviour support and intellectual disability. There are 4 categories of awards; Innovative practice supporting adults Innovative practice supporting children and young people Recognising organisational achievements and service user involvement Leader of the future an award to recognise exceptional practice for students Categories 1 & 2 Submissions can be accepted from individuals or teams of people who can demonstrate exceptional practice that has been evaluated and had a positive impact in improving the quality of life for adults and/or children and young people. The submission should; Include a lead contact name, full title and qualifications Include the full names of all nominees, full titles and qualifications Organisational details A contact address E-mail contact Telephone point of contact Title of the submission Written abstract that describes the area of practice, including the aims, development work involved, and methodology for evaluating the impact of the project/practice, results, conclusions and outcomes. This abstract must be in 3000 words or less. Category 3 Submissions in this category must be entered by or with people who have experience of using services. The winning submission will demonstrate how working with individuals who have experience of using services has supported effective change and practice. The winning submission will be accessible. The submission should include; Include a lead contact name and full title Include the full names of all nominees, full titles Organisational details A contact address E-mail contact Telephone point of contact Title of the submission Accessible format presenting an outline of the project or work, this may be photos, drawings, written, art work, poetry, story boards or other accessible format chosen for the submission. Categories 1-3 The successful candidates will be informed in writing. The award will formally be made on Thursday 6th May 2010 at the dinner of the International Conference in Dublin. Up to 3 people per application will be invited to attend the conference dinner to receive the award. All successful candidates will be offered an opportunity to have a poster presentation for display throughout the conference event, the closing date for submissions is 19 April 2010. Rules Applications are welcome from individuals working within organisations based within the UK and Eire. Attendance at the conference dinner will be complimentary to award winners but BILD cannot cover expenses. If winners decide to attend the conference event the full cost of attendance and travel must be met by them personally or a sponsoring organisation and cannot be met by BILD in full or part. For winners of category 3 Recognising organisational achievements and service user involvement, a maximum of two complimentary day places for either Thursday or Friday will be awarded to attend the event. This will not include overnight accommodation at the venue but will include all meals at the event and conference dinner. Winners will be offered the opportunity to have a poster presentation at the event but must develop and provide the poster and sponsor at least one person to present the poster throughout the event of for part of the event should they attend for one day only. The decision of the awards committee will be final All submissions must be received by midnight on 19 April 2010. Category 4. Leader of the Future- an award to recognise exceptional practice for students sponsored by Crisis Prevention Institute(CPI)  This award is open to any student undertaking a course of study at any University in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. They must be registered in the academic year ending summer 2010 and can be at any point in their academic studies. The nominee of the winning submission will be awarded full delegate attendance at the conference and also present a 15 minute key note presentation to the conference on the Friday. The winning submission will demonstrate how they have improved outcomes for individuals through innovative practice. The submission should; Include the full name of the nominee Details of the University attended Full title of the course of study and qualification Supporting statement from 2 individuals one of whom should be a university tutor A contact address E-mail contact Telephone point of contact Title of the submission Written abstract that describes the area of practice, including the aims, development work involved, and methodology for evaluating the impact of the project/practice, results, conclusions and outcomes. A short power point presentation for the project of no more than 10 slides that can form the basis of the proposed key note address for the winner Rules Nominations are welcome from students registered at any University in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or Eire. Attendance at the conference and dinner on the 6th and 7th will be complimentary for the winning student. This will not include travel expenses, subsistence or accommodation expenses which must be met by the winning nominee.
